What happened?
On April 21, 2025, Governor DeWine signed the Senate Bill (SB 33) into law, modernizing workplace compliance by allowing employers to post certain mandatory labor law notices electronically, as long as they are accessible to all employees.
Overview:
Ohio Senate Bill 33: Ohio employers may post certain mandatory labor law notices digitally, provided they are accessible to all employees. This modernization supports today’s remote and hybrid work environments.
- It does not change federal posting requirements, which still require physical display unless all employees are remote.
- Employers can now post the following notices online (e.g., intranet, HR portal):
- Minor Labor Law (excluding the physical list of employed minors)
- Minimum Wage Standards
- Civil Rights
- Prevailing Wage (for public works)
- Workers’ Compensation
- Public Employment Risk Reduction (PERRP)
- Benefits
- Efficiency: Centralized compliance across locations.
- Cost Savings: Reduces need for printed posters.
- Accessibility: Easier access for remote and field employees.
- Employer Responsibilities
- Ensure digital notices are on a secure, accessible platform.
- Clearly inform employees of the change.
- Maintain physical postings where federally required.
